Team Building Success Stories
CREATIVE TEAM BUILDING WITH TEBU
Telstra Business Centre, Bundall, Qld
The
Telstra Business Centre at Bundall is an incredible operation. Recently voted
the number one licenced Telstra operation in Australia for the second year
running, they have grown from humble beginnings. With just 8 staff in 2006 they
have had a meteoric rise and have grown to over 60 staff today. A multi award
winning operation, they attribute much of their success to developing the right
systems and supporting their people to achieve their goals.
In 2006 they
had initiated quarterly staff meetings and wanted to give them some spice with
an activity at each one that supported their internal and Telstra’s key
messages, helped staff across 3 offices interact and work together, promoted an
understanding of their products and services and provided an incentive and
reward for their staff and business partners.
From making TV commercials,
drumming, competitive games, trust programs, casino nights, laughter workshops
and many more, Tebu brings a new and exciting activity to each meeting. Key to
the success of the activities is the knowledge of staff demographics, ability to
run them in a relatively small location with no travel and a limited time frame.
Each activity must be short, punchy, entertaining and portable and we had to
have a range of activities that would see us deliver something different and
unexpected at each meeting.
The activities have become part of the
quarterly meeting culture and are a much anticipated event. With more activities
planned for coming quarters we’ll do our part to helping them win more awards
for their first class operation.
Jones Lang La Salle –
Environmental Project, Salt Foreshore, NSW
JLL came to us with a concept
of wanting to do something positive for the environment at their annual
conference at Peppers Salt. Their conference program focussed around sustainable
development and they wanted an activity where all 420 delegates did something
hands on for the environment and to leave a positive legacy.
The
decision was to go with an attempt to plant 5,000 trees in one and a half hours
along the foreshore at Salt. A ambitious undertaking, it took 32 support staff,
the co-ordination of all of JLL’s conference resources, 65 shovels, hundreds of
buckets, fertiliser, water by the truck load, hundreds bamboo stakes, permission
from the developers and a helicopter catching the action on film from above.
Most of all it took the commitment of the JLL staff to get their hands dirty and
commit, in the heat of summer, to pull it off. To further show their commitment
JLL donated $10,000 to Coastcare for the ongoing management of the dunes they
had just regenerated.
The trees and vegetation planted on the day
showed an amazing 90% survival rate and today the environment stands as natural
and lush as it had ever been.
Global Food and Wine – Sales
Reps and Managers strategy seminar, Gold Coast, Qld
With operations on
the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Cairns, Global Food and Wine employ
160 staff and operate in the highly competitive foodservice industry. GF&W
were seeking a way to generate new sales and marketing ideas, strategies to hold
on to key accounts and also create a regular forum for exchange of information
and ideas across the state. They approached Tebu to facilitate a weekend of
teambuilding activities that would take them out of their day to day routine,
open up their creative minds and get them generating new ideas. The key
component for them was to capture their key ideas and create an action plan to
put them into place.
Tdebu organised the location (accommodation and
conference venue) a range of teambuilding and creative exercises, and organised
for briefing and content sessions interspersed throughout the program. After a
day and a half of working together the team decided on their top 10 sales,
marketing and account management strategies for the year ahead, created an
action plan to get them moving and appointed a ‘Progress Manager’ who would
report monthly to the group and help keep them on track and accountable.
Following the weekend, GF&W committed to open up a new operation in
Townsville.
